2015 Amherst Ice Rinks

In conjunction with the Amherst Recreation Department, Milford Rotary and many generous donors the Amherst Foundation played a major role in bring outdoor ice rinks to town.

It had been years since I got to strap up the skates and play some hockey with friends! I loved having such a convenient place to do that.

It was great to see the community come together and be able to have fun with all ages!

The rink provided an awesome venue to play friendly, competitive pond hockey as well as a
place to skate freely, and learn how to skate better. Not only was it a convenient, and free place to play, but maintenance was tip-top.

Although I only used the new AMS ice rink on a limited basis during its inaugural year of 2015, I found the facility to be a great addition to the town of Amherst’s outdoor Winter fun and exercise initiatives. Hopefully it will be back again next year and, perhaps a few sheets of plywood for backstops behind the goals will help keep pucks on the ice surface and not sailing into the woods. Also some lighting with timers to prevent late night usage and to maintain respect for the neighbors would be desirable.
